We first met at the Great Western Terrier Association Specialty in 2002. Jane had three outstanding dogs with her. The one which instantly captured Kevin's heart was Seanachie, AmCanCh Greatscot I Stripped For This. That weekend was merely the beginning of a very deep friendship.

Since our first meeting, the two of us have worked together to gain titles on Jane's dogs on both sides of the Canadian and American border.

In the spring of 2004, the two of us decided to pool our resources and collaborate under one kennel prefix — Greatscot. This has been and will continue to be a tremendous opportunity for both of us.

History of Greatscot Kennels
- Jane Dempsey

I began showing dogs as a Junior Handler at the age of eight. In 1992 I resumed showing with my first Cairn, Alamawa's Craigellachie, that I purchased from Margaret and Hugh Kinsley. The Kinsleys have been in Cairns since 1948 and have bred nearly 1000 puppies along the old Melita lines but bearing their Alamawa prefix. I purchased my second Cairn, Ch. Alamawa's Killybracken, in 1996. She would become my foundation bitch and went on to produce three AmCan Champions.

In 1999 I took Killybracken to Europe and bred her to the '98 World Winner, Swedish/Finnish Champion Hjohoo's Hjo Got The Right Stuff. The breeding resulted in five puppies. I also imported a bitch from the same kennel. Ester, Hjohoo's Hjo Want It Hjo Got It, was the first Hjohoo dog imported and registered in North America. Hjo, pronounced "you," is the name of the village in Sweden where Elisabeth Theodorsson and the Hjohoo kennel are located.

"Greatscot" was officially registered with the Canadian Kennel Club in 1999.

Kevin's Story

At the age of fourteen, I acquired my first Cairn, Kisncairn Angus Moor, a dog out of Rossarden Candida and sired by Ch Marvin of Rossarden. Ever since then, I have had a deep passion and love for the Cairn Terrier.

My goal has always been to raise and exhibit healthy Cairns with correct breed type, even temperaments, and sound movement, and to ensure that they maintain their working ability for which they were originally bred — going to ground.

I'm currently taking a break from showing and breeding in order to pursue academic goals.

Welcome to Greatscot.
